Great Idea

  • Great Idea

One day a young girl learned her older sister had hidden an iPad belonging to another child but claimed she knew nothing about the missing iPad.  When the father discovered the iPad under the older sister’s bed, the older sister confessed.

The younger sister was shocked and disappointed in her sister’s behavior.  She explained the story to her grandparents and said she thought she needed to invent a Truth Machine to be able to tell if someone were lying.  The grandparents exclaimed, “Great idea.”

Children want to contribute to solving a problem.  Their solutions may not be the ultimate solutions, but it is important to acknowledge their creative ideas.  Whenever adults recognize and acknowledge these ideas, children feel free to explore options.  They focus on learning rather than on fearing criticism for a bad idea.  Perhaps one day they may develop a life changing idea or product!
